Control Motors

Control motors are used to automatically wind and unwind the pool blanket on the main reel. These motors replace the manual hand crank operations that are typical for manual pool Covers. The motors are synchronised for consistent operation and are housed in protective cases against the elements.

Micro Controller

The Auto Pool Reel is a fully automatic pool cover, It has a micro controller that controls the motors, while at the same time sensing the correct position of the solar cover on the main reel for precise and repeatable final position.

Edge Guide Arms

The Edge Guides are positioned to the edge of the pool coping with the use of the Edge Guide Arms. These arms extend out from the End Supports to allow the main reel to sit back slightly from the pool edge to account for any contour of the coping.

Main Reel

The main reel in the automatic pool cover is made from aluminum tubes that adjust to fit the pool width. These tubes are secured together with screws and at each end attached to the end support with the use of tube plugs. The tubes are designed to support the pool cover as it winds and unwinds over the pool area.

Pool Covers that can be used

The Auto Pool Reel can be used with your existing cover your thermal blanket or solar cover. All thermal blankets are not created equal, thermal blankets made from 1/8" cross linked polyethylene foam with 5 mil polyethylene top and bottom surfaces should work well. However, thermal blankets with 75 denier woven polyethylene top and bottom surface or similar may not work well.

Edge Guides

To ensure correct positioning of the retractable pool cover for winding or unwinding requires guides. If no guides are present then tracks, ropes or hands are required to constantly ensure the material is running correctly. Even then alignment can still be an issue. Adjusting at the end or middle of the pool cover with a rope or by hand is not very effective, and is the wrong location to make adjustments. The Auto Pool Reel's patented design ensures constant alignment by using edge guides on both sides of the pool cover just in front of the main reel where alignment is required the most. This allows for smooth and repeatable rolling of the pool cover on and off the reel and makes it hassle free.

Securing Auto Reel

Once the Auto Pool Reel is positioned at the edge of the pool coping, it is recommended the unit be secured to the pool deck through the Rubber Mounts at each End Supports. This secures the Auto Pool Reel into position and prevents the unit from moving around, or entering the pool in areas that experience high winds.

Push Button

With a simple push of the button the Automatic Pool Cover will automatically cover or uncover the swimming pool. No extra effort is required, just watch it go. To stop the pool cover just push the button again and the pool cover stops immediately. To reverse the direction of the pool cover just push the button again. The push button operation is very similar to a garage door opener.

Safety Key

Prior to operating the Auto Pool Reel the safety key is required. This key must be inserted into the unit and rotated 90 degrees. This will turn the micro controller on and the Electric Pool Cover is ready for use. To prevent anyone from using the Auto Pool Reel just remove the key.

Rubber Mounts

Each End Support can be positioned on the pool deck independently at the edge of the pool coping with the use of rubber mounts. These rubber mounts also allow the Auto Pool Reel to sit squarely on the pool deck
